Went to the Cabin

Wow, did we ever, sherri was out of town for 5 days got back late from atlanta and we went straight up there. It was a weekend of firsts for Joey, a boat ride, caught a fish with daddy and stayed awake til 10:30 at night.  The weather had been in the 90’s for 10 days, that friday it was 70 at the cabin, and all weekend, it was very strange weather and much cooler. However, too much heat and humidity would have made the trip a disaster.

Poopie Time

yea, this is a poop post, but a very good one. So Joey is making his pooping face and we encourage him then he says he needs his pants changed. During the process, sherri put him down naked and he is running around and says he has to go potty, so she puts him on the potty chair and he poops, jumps up and starts screaming poooopieeeeee and almost puts his whole head in the pot to look at it.  The point being he identified the feeling, and knew what to do with and about that feeling. It’s a big day at our house.

Music time

Joey went to the stereo, tapped on the door and said “Sing!”  Next he went to the box of musical instruments and took out a shaker for himself and one for me; then back to the stereo again and said “Sing!”  So we had music time at home with the Kindermusik CD - dancing, singing, jumping - it was a blast!

Talking

Joey tries to say everything that we say.  Today he was just a chatterbug stringing random sounds together with some of the words that we can understand.  I think he’s actually trying to say stuff!

Oh - since this weekend, when he asks for help, not only does he do the sign and say “help!”, he says it VERY LOUDLY so we cannot ignore that he is asking for HELP! HELP!  It’s pretty cute.

More about swimming

mommy got to take Joey to his swim lesson today and he is kicking like a champ!  Daddy has really been getting him to work hard at it.  We put the little back-pack float on him and gave him a floaty paddle to hold onto - with that, the teacher says “run, run” and he moves his legs under water like he’s running. Then she let him go so he was basically treading water all by himself - awesome.
