Drinking

Joey can drink water out of our Camelbak brand water bottles.  It’s quite the feat since you have to bite the rubber straw covering open and suck through the straw at the same time.  Here is a picture of one.  He still likes to open his mouth and let the water drain down his chin before swallowing sometimes so I know he’s getting it out of there.

Signing for Food

Yep, Joe and Sherri were eating watching tv (yea, bad) and Joey wanted something as well, so he kept looking at us and whining, so Sherri thought he was hungry. She got him some yogurt melts (freeze dried yogurt small for kids to eat) and when he saw her with them, he signed and said mmmmm which is for food. So that’s a big deal.

Air plane

After the football game last Sunday the 21st, we brought Uncle James home to visit for a while. While playing outside, we heard an air plane go overhead. I asked Joey “what do you hear? Is it an air plane?” and he looked up, pointed and said “Ah Pah” (meaning air plane). James heard him too so I’m not just making it up!

These pictures are from the game on Sept. 14th. James and Amanda came to watch with us. Joey has a couple of purple Vikings shirts to show his team spirit. I will post pictures of him and his little friend Reier from the last game.

New things

Joey has started making the car sounds when driving his toy cars around the floor. It’s very cute to watch.  He has a smaller car that he drives up the wall and over pillows too.

Other new stuff…

  • he puts his blocks back into the basket now instead of just taking them out (joe taught him);
  • he tried stacking the blocks - when I hold the bottom one still, he can get the next one on;
  • he plays peek-a-boo by hiding outside a doorway or behind your chair, then leans out where he can see you and says “boo” (or his version of it - more “buh”);
  • climbs the step stool by the bathroom sink so he can wash his hands (i.e. play in the water if mommy will fill it up).

I can’t think of anything else right now.

Raspberries

Here is a picture of Joey doing the raspberry sound with his mouth - note the drool/spittle and tongue hanging out.  He especially likes to make this sound after drinking some water or juice as there is so much more stuff to spit around.Â

Missing my boys

I’ve been back at Barr now for a week (I’m working part-time, 20 hours each week) and yesterday I really missed my boys.  I got to spend a little time with them in the morning - just enough for a few hugs and kisses.

Here they are having a little nap (Sept. 5, 2008) - Joey doesn’t usually like to fall asleep while being held so this was a rare photo op.

Underwear

It’s not too early for big-boy underwear, is it? He seemed to love wearing these. He had a reaction to the Mac-n-Cheese from Noodles so we got him out of his clothes and were just waiting to see if it was spreading or going away. Here you can see it on the back of his arm - both arms and his thighs were breaking out (this was back on September 12).

Throwing

Me and My Ball - Hello!Joey loves to throw his ball.  He’s been holding it and playing with it for a long time (some of you will remember the awe we all had when he was palming the ball at 6 months).  He started rolling and chasing it, then listening to it (see photo), and last week he just picked it up and threw it.  He’s got a pretty good arm - actually two good arms right now.  James wants us to make sure he keeps throwing left-handed.  Apparently it’s a better market.Joey Palms the BallJoey with his ball smiling
