Little stinker!

Joey was pulling on the curtains in the living room today and we’ve told him “no” several times (I could just see the whole track come down on his head).   Joe said “no” again and added “do I need to come over there?”  Then Joey looked at him, smiled from ear to ear, and reached for the curtain agian!  Joe started to get out of his chair and Joey took off crawling away as fast as he could go.  It was just hilarious!  He proved that he knows that “no” means “don’t do that” and he also proved that he will do it anyway just to get a rise out of us.  Can you say “Trouble with a capital T”?

It’s totally illegal to copy these images from the photographer but he does SUCH a great job capturing Joey’s personality, I wanted to post a couple with the watermark. If you want him to do pictures, give him a call at 952-891-3453 - his site is www.heritagephotographyinc.com

Brushing teeth

Ever since Joey was tiny, part of our nightly routine is to wash his face & hands, then brush his teeth/gums.  I’ve been using an infant tooth brush that fits on my finger and while I brush I sing “This is the way we brush our teeth, brush our teeth, [etc.]… before we go to bed” to the tune of Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.  Lately he has been wanting to hold the infant brush himself so tonight I switched to the little tooth brush the dentist gave us.  As soon as he put the brush in his mouth, he started humming like he was singing the song!  It was too cute to miss a video opportunity.  There is sound so turn up your volume!

Chewing

Joey is eating zucchini now with Daddy.  You can see him using his two little teeth to chew it up. He started that yesterday with the Anne’s Cheddar Bunny crackers too.  He is refusing a lot of his baby food lately - he still likes his yogurt and any of the baby food fruits though.  I think he’ll just be eating what ever we are having very soon.  Oh, he had his first hot dog yesterday too.  :)

Stairs

Joe let Joey climb up the stairs last night.  He did a pretty good job - went up 4 steps, reached back for Daddy, went up a couple more.  He lost his balance a couple of times in the whole flight so I think that was pretty darn good.  Next we’ll have to try to teach him how to go down - getting him to understand the whole concept of turning around first will be a good thing.

Sippy cup

Luke let us borrow his sippy cup over the weekend and we did not really get a chance to try it out until today.  I put a little watered-down juice in it and gave it to Joey at the table after he was done eating.  He has actually figured out that he needs to tip it up to get the juice to the spout where he can suck it out of the cup.  It was a video opportunity.

Polish Days

We went to the annual Polish Days (officially Polska Kielbasa Days) in Ivanhoe over the weekend of August 9 - 10.  Joey went to the petting zoo…

James tried it too.  I missed the part where he lost his balance and the cord pulled him over into a backward summersault but here is the gist of it.

Joey was exhausted at the end of the day. Here he is in the port-a-crib that Grandma (mom) bought for him.

Sunday we just enjoyed some time out on the newly covered deck (see the entry from last weekend).

2nd Tooth

Joey’s second tooth broke through today.  Now he will at least have a pair - both bottom front teeth.

First Tooth

Joey got his first tooth today (August 6)!  It is the front, bottom left one.  We are tickled but I’m sad that these sweet little chin kisses just won’t be the same.Chin kisses
He is getting so big - maybe we should put him in the big crib now (sorry, Addie, we’ll have to move you).
Too big for the crib!

We’ve taken so many pictures of this boy, here you see him blocking the shot like a star does to the paparazzi.
no photos, please!

End of a good thing

Joey has been able to roll over from his back to his stomach for a long time but up until now, when we put him on the bed or in the crib with his blanket, he would just wiggle from one side to the other like he was sort of stuck on his back.  Well, last night he figured it out - he can roll over and crawl away.  I use the term “last night” loosely as it was between the hours of 2 am and 4 am.

Exhausted little boySince (his cousin) Cheyanne is visiting and sleeping in the small bed in his room, I did not want him to keep her up so when he woke at 2 am (also a new development - I think it’s either the teeth or the ear infection), I brought him over to our bed.  He lay there for a while, making little noises, kicking his legs and rocking from one side to the other as is his usual.  Then suddenly, he got all the way over, up to his knees and started crawling away.  So this is the end of laying him down in our bed for naps and leaving him there.

When I took him back to his crib, he did the same thing - rolled over, sat up and looked at me.  His head was above the top rail, meaning if he were to stand up he would probably just topple out.  So Joe lowered the mattress in his crib.

I’m watching him on the monitor now as he is going to take a nap in his crib.  He has figured out how to pull himself up to standing, then he can lower himself back down to sit.  The poor little guy does not know how to lay down from a sitting position!  He is so tired!  Rubbing his eyes with his hands and his blanket, he’s actually swaying a little, looking around, looking a little helpless - now he just bent forward at the waist and put his head on his feet.  That does not look comfortable at all so I will go and lay him down.  Eventually he will figure that out too.
