Playing with toes
Here’s our little guy discovering more about his feet. Usually he has socks on because it’s winter here. Today his wiggling toes caught his attention and he started pulling on his feet.

Joey is having a fantastic time in the Jumperoo! Here he is really going fast … he squeals when jumps too. Sorry no sound but you can see his mouth open and laughing.
Well he was on his front and rolled to his back trying to see a mirror Sherri was holding. We will video it as he gets stronger and does it on a more regular basis. As for now he loves his jump up and he gets stronger and bigger everyday.
Wow, we started Joey on cereal today - March 21, 2008. He loved it as you can see from the video. We will also be starting a video section of his activities for those that find him amusing. Oh, and for those that also think it’s important, the cereal was organic.
Amy and Jenny took all of the kids to the zoo today. Amy showed us a couple of pictures that they took and we will hopefully be posting one of those here. It sounds like they had a really good time.
Joey likes the special songs we sing to him. His favorites are the “Good Morning” song and Joe’s made-up “Little Buddy” song. Other songs that get him smiling are “You are my sunshine” and “I love you a bushel and a peck”. I really love to see his wonderful smile.
We took Joey to an pediatric opthamologist today (March 4). I saw something odd on his pupils when we were in South Padre —it looks to me like little spider web lines the color of his irises — and I thought we should get it checked by our doctor. The regular pediatrician looked at him and set up the appointment with the opthamologist right away.
They did a very thorough eye exam. It is quite fascinating how they check sight/vision on such a little baby. The lines are in fact iris fibers that are spread into his pupils. Apparently when the eye develops, the opening for the pupil appears last and his just didn’t fully open. I think maybe we didn’t see it before because his eyes were much darker when he was born and now as they become a lighter shade of gray, the lines are more prominent against the black pupil. The doctor said the fibers should thin out and either disappear completely or just become less noticeable as Joey gets older.
So, there are several “good news” things we heard today. First, he does not have cataracts (which was my fear); second, the fibers do not affect his vision; and third, his eyesight is developing well and is in the high normal range.
